Overnight Boarding
We are not, and will never be, a group style play-all-day dog care facility. It’s dangerous, overwhelming, overstimulating and not enjoyable for a majority of dogs. At The GLDN Dog Co we focus on biological fulfilment and the overall health, wellbeing and the state of mind of your dog. After a stay at The GLDN Dog Co your dog will come home content and relaxed - not exhausted from overstimulation.
Accommodations
Our facility is situated on our property where we raise our kids and dogs. Your dog will have their very own suite that has an indoor area with a raised bed and food and water station, as well as access to their own outdoor run. The suites and individual outdoor areas are used for downtime and feeding times, the outdoor areas are locked overnight. Your dogs area, both inside and out, are swept twice daily and mopped and disinfected once daily to ensure your dog has a clean, comfortable suite. Water bowls are fully cleaned and replaced a minimum of twice daily and a new clean food bowl is used for each feed. Your dogs suite is theirs to make their own. They can have their favourite toy and favourite blanket in there to make it feel more like home. Dog will have access to one of our three large play yards throughout the day.
Enrichment
Enrichment is a big part of our program and plays a huge part in providing a safe and enjoyable outlet for your dog. Different types of enrichment included in our day to day activities include; food puzzles, frozen feeders, snuffle mats, lick mats, a variety of toys (for individual play), species appropriate activities including but not limited to a herding balls for herders, scent games for hounds, digging for treats for terriers, different outdoor elements for exploration, and indoor elements including dog safe essential oils, classical music and movie nights each evening.
Exercise
Fulfilling but not taxing exercise tailored for each individual guest. Exercise includes free run in one of our three large play areas, play on one of our outdoor elements, small behaviourally assessed playgroups if applicable, long line walks and indoor play.
Rest
Rest is often overlooked at many dog care facilities. At The GLDN we practice rejuvenating daytime rests to ensure a healthy wellbeing and quiet overnight accommodations for a restful sleep. We use soothing classical music to promote rest and relaxation. https://www.whole-dog-journal.com/behavior/how-much-sleep-do-dogs-need/
